The Opportunity

We thought the Oreo and Xbox partnership was a match made in heaven. And then PAC-MAN came along. The opportunity was to further build Oreo’s relationship with gaming – but this time with a partnership that felt more universal and played to the nostalgia around this arcade favourite. Our challenge was to create a unique visual identity for the collaboration – incorporating the best of both brand worlds – across six bespoke cookie designs and limited-edition packaging, for multiple European markets. The aim? To unlock a brand experience full of nostalgia and fun – and defend Oreo’s status as the world’s most playful cookie.

Playful Nostalgia

PAC-MAN is all about the maze. With that in mind, we turned each of Pacman’s distinctive assets into a maze – created with a blend of Oreo florets, dot/dash linework, and playful pattern – embossed onto six cookies and brought to life in full delicious glory. In partnership with Saatchi and Saatchi, the cookies were made scannable – with each unique embossment allowing consumers to unlock and play special mazes, to win prizes. Using our distinctive Oreo Blue as a canvas, the packaging range brings the collaboration to life immediately, with our cookies at the heart of it, setting the scene for gameplay – and snack time. Nostalgia never tasted so good.
